 Not only do I love exploring nature through gardening but also through going on camping and hiking trips exploring State and National Parks!

How I Travel

  • Portable Kitchen - Yes, I quite literally travel with a "kitchen" that allows us to prepare food and eat in National Parks! In the long run will save a lot of money but I would rather eat on the rim of the Grand Canyon than any indoor place!

  • Yellowstone National Park - July 13-15, 2022
  • Grand Teton National Park - July 14, 2022
  • Glacier National Park - July 17-18, 2022
  • Badlands National Park - July 22-23, 2024
  • Acadia National Park - July 25-28, 2025 - There is a shuttle called the "Island Explorer" that is free to ride and given the traffic seen in Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor I strongly recommend.   
    • Hike to Bar Island - July 26, 2025 - during low tide you can hike to the island!  You do want to be sure you get back before the water covers the sand bar though or you will either have to wait or call and pay for transportation.  It is only a 1.9 mile round trip hike and you have 1.5 hours before to 1.5 hours after low tide.   To be on the safe side we started our crossing as soon as the tide was low enough for us to cross!
    • Cadillac Mountain - July 26, 2025 - shuttle bus does not go up the mountain so you either must hike or drive.  If you drive you will need a reservation see NPS for more information.  Reservation is for a time window when you start driving on the road, once you enter you can stay as long as you want.
    • Whale Watching Tour - A private company with their dock in Bar Harbor but you do get to see Acadia National Park from the sea but more importantly you get to see whales!   I am sharing their photos as I did not get many, seas were choppy and I was already getting slightly sea sick!
    • Hike around Jordan Pond - July 28, 2025 - beautiful hike and you will be able to see the "Bubbles at Jordan Pond".  I strongly recommend the shuttle bus as parking is near impossible.
    • Sand Beach - July 28, 2025 - even in July the water is cold!   However, many people still enjoy swimming.  This parking lot also gets full and strongly recommend the shuttle!
